Not just a fault code

Most scanner apps show "P0301" and leave you to search the internet. AutoAI tells you what it means for you.

GREEN AMBER RED

Safe to drive?

A clear green, amber or red answer for every fault, so you know whether to carry on, book a garage, or stop.

PLAIN ENGLISH

What it means

"One of your engine's cylinders isn't firing properly", not jargon. With the likely causes and what to ask your garage.

MADE FOR THE UK

MOT, tax and costs

MOT history and reminders from your registration, plus typical UK repair prices for your area. Coming with Premium.

How it works

No mechanic skills needed. If your car is a petrol from 2001 or a diesel from 2004 onwards, it has the port.

Plug in the adapter

A small Bluetooth OBD2 adapter (about £20) goes into a socket under your dashboard, usually near the steering wheel. We'll show you where.

Tap Scan

Turn the ignition on and tap Scan. AutoAI finds the adapter by itself and remembers it for next time.

Get your answer

In about a minute: what's wrong, how serious it is, whether it's safe to drive, and what to do next.

Questions

What is an OBD2 adapter, and which one should I buy?

A small plug that lets your phone read your car's computer. Most cost £15–£35 online. Look for one that says "Bluetooth" and, if you have an iPhone, "BLE" or "works with iPhone". We'll list adapters we've tested when we launch.

Will it work with my car?

Almost certainly, if it's a petrol car from 2001 or a diesel from 2004 onwards. That's when the port became standard in the UK.

What can it read?

Engine and emissions faults: the ones that turn on the engine warning light. Warnings like ABS, airbag or tyre pressure usually need a more advanced adapter.

Does it replace a mechanic?

No. AutoAI gives guidance so you know how urgent a problem is and what to ask your garage. If a warning light is red or flashing, or the car feels unsafe, stop when safe and get professional help.

How much will it cost?

There will be a free version for reading faults and checking whether it's safe to drive. The full version with plain-English explanations, repair costs and the AI mechanic is planned at about £4.99 a month. Prices are not final.
